Happy New Year

                        God’s Promise Fulfilled                         Dec. 2011   Wendy A Nottingham

Christmas: the time when on earth we celebrate the wondrous story

Of the coming of Jesus, Our Lord, to this world from Highest Glory

                                    InNazareth, the angel Gabriel appeared

                                    To Mary, a virgin, saying “Do not be feared

                                    For the Prince of Peace, God shall send

                                    And of His kingdom there shall be no end.

                        Jesus: a king of highest renown,

                                    Over the house of Jacob shall reign,

                                    He, whom prophets of old foretold,

                                    Will bring in a new Age of Gold.”

Later, in the town ofBethlehemwhile it was still dark, not yet quite morn,

In a cold stable, with animals around them, Mary brought forth a Son; her firstborn.

                                    Out on the hillsides, shepherds were caring

                                    For their sheep, when suddenly they were staring

                                    At a shining angel with bright wings unfurled,

                                    Who told them God’s son had entered the world.

                                    Then all the bells of heaven rang

                                    And a great company of angels sang

                                    Telling news of Jesus’ birth

                                    To bring peace to men on earth.

“Glory to God in Highest Domain, with goodwill towards all men;

To earth has come God’s only Son, to dwell as human yet divine.”

                                    Filled with the wonder of what they had just seen

                                    Quickly toBethlehemthose shepherds withdrew.

                                    And found there, Mary, sitting quiet and serene.

                                    Who knew in her heart what they said was true.

                                    A prince in a stable; Immanuel; animals standing by.

                                    Did Mary know then that her son came to earth to die?

                                    God’s greatest gift; Saviour of this world forlorn;

                                    Prince of the universe, yet to redeem us, He was born.

Jesus; Name above names; Majestic Lord; Venite adoramus.  Let our voices swell;

God has fulfilled His promised word. Come!  Celebrate Jesus, the one Immanuel.

                                    To all who seek the Lord, the Prince of love;

                                    Reigning in Glory, at God’s right hand above,

                                    The promise is given, to lead us to His prepared place,

                                    To live with Him in everlasting Grace.

History of the church:

Our Church was founded by Dr Denis Pells Cocks, starting life in the garage of their home.  In 1968 we moved to our existing building and have recently celebrated our 40th Anniversary.

We are affiliated to the FIEC (Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches).

WHY?

We meet not for religion but for worship of our God who has done all that is necessary for us to be in fellowship with Him.  Many of our congregation have a story to tell about how they came to know God through Jesus.  Click on Why? to read their stories .

Everyone’s story or experience is different, but the common theme is that when they called out to God  – Jesus answered their call. The way that this takes place is explained within the pages of this site.

WHY NOT COME AND JOIN US?

Breaking News:

We are planning another Christianity Explored couse in February 2012. For more information please go to the Christianity Explored page.
